Big Foot- Rob Zombie, Steve Niles, Richard Corben

Steve Niles and Rob Zombie, team up to present this realistic take on the legendary Bigfoot. A monstrous ape-man is stomping around the woods of the Pacific Northwest, and he’s not happy with mankind. Bigfoot also offers master craftsman Richard Corben a return to his true horror roots as he fully renders the imposing beast as only he can.

Following on my Haloween trend for this month, I also found a copy of Bigfoot on my phone the other day, seriously, its like I specifically forgot to read them earlier just so I could entertain myself for the month of October…

As comics go these days, Bigfoot was also another short one, just over 30 pages or so. We do not know where or what the story with BF is as this was more an introduction or a “preview” of things to come. I am getting the feeling that one of the sherrifs knows more than he is letting on. This story was over realy quick.

Of the three names on the cover of this comic, it is only Rob Zombie that I know anything of. The man is a metal legend to some, to others a movie maestro with hits like House of a 100 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. These movies I consider low budget, but they are made by a person that started of his career as a shock horror enthusiast. I only like a few of his songs as I have only spent time on one of his first albums. I might share one on Monday. Keeping with the Haloween spirit and all, pun intended…

I digress… Bigfoot was nothing great or spectacular, it was a bit violent and got real messy real quick in the begining. Not a bad thing. I would’ve just liked to see some more of the story. I gave it a 3 out of 5 on GR. Would recommend it for followers of Mr RZ, BF and other horror enthusiasts. Not recommended for the easily offended, the queasy. I might be able to follow on more comics if I happen to pass them by. Any of you ever had an encouter with BF?

Hope everyone is having a great month so far.

  1. Yea, I like some of Rob Zombie’s songs. Steve Niles is a comic writer who has been around awhile, think best known for Doom Patrol. Richard Corben is a pretty awesome artist, and I think had some stories published in Heavy Metal magazine. If not, his style is certainly reminiscent of artists from that magazine, and he has worked on quite a bit of SciFi material.

As for Bigfoot, haven’t read it. I did watch the age old movie, when I was a small kid, and that shows just how old I am! Ran into a few strange things in the woods, but never saw Big Foot.
