Blurp:
Raised as a slave in the Darkoath camps of Aqshy, Kiri dreams of a better life. Of a city of wonders, the place of her birth… Lifestone! She despairs of ever reaching it until a fateful day arrives when her barbarian captors are attacked by Sigmar’s noblest warriors, the Stormcast Eternals. Seizing her chance, Kiri flees through a mysterious realmgate that takes her far from the fiery lands of Aqshy. She arrives in the realm of Ghyran and finds the city of Lifestone. But a curse lies on this place, withering its noble spirit. Her path leads her to a special group of children who, like her, are realm-marked – the prophecised saviours of Lifestone. There’s Thanis, the fighter; Alish, the inventor; Kaspar; the sneak and Elio, the healer. But dark forces are allying against the children and will do anything to stop them achieving their destiny.
Thoughts:
I might have stated this in a previous post somewhere that Black Library was releasing a kids version of stories set both in 40K and Age of Sigmar. I have read the first two in the 40K series and have enjoyed it for what it was; easy reading material for days where I could not focus on reading at all. Lifestone being book one in the AoS side of things helps us get to know the new world in quite a rapid introduction. We are literally flung through a gate into another place that is in equal turmoil as the place we start of alongside Kiri. I am reading these books in preparation for my journey into the Realm of Sigmar, I have been stuck on a book for the last 4 months due to my lack of interest in the setting. I thought this would help ease me in more gently, these kids do not take crap though, facing things I would’ve easily run from if I was that age…
There is set up to the Skaven that seem to have a main role in book two, that I also have on my phone to dive in next, I am looking forward to it. I gave Lifestone a 3 out of 5 on GR and I treated it as a comic book/ graphic novel, its a standard rating from me. To be a 4 or 5 there needs to be some strings pulled. This was a fun read though do not take me wrong.
Hope you have a great day
The group of kids made me think it sounded almost like a Dungeons and Dragons group 😛
What book have you been stuck on?

Well, you know me…I’m still in the Horus Heresy side of things, and I honestly don’t think I will venture a lot into the Warhammer fantasy side of books. I quite liked Drachenfels, but mainly because of it’s horror roots. But well, I already have way too many books, and I just like the sci fi side of Warhammer more. Glad you enjoyed this one though, and as always great post!
Ps…I doubt I would do the things these kids don’t run away from as an adult lol😂😂

I can definitely understand how this could be seen as a lifeboat to your current struggle. Sounds cute and fun. Thanks for sharing! 😀

The AoS setting is a bit weird, and I’ve been put off from reading too much in it after the first couple of books in the Realmgate Wars from 2015. I’ve come across some interesting bits here and there since then, but haven’t wanted to go all out on a novel yet! Good luck with finishing Soul Wars though!
