Metal Monday – The Package – A Perfect Circle

Welcome to Metal Monday again! Is it me or are these Mondays starting to come on faster than I can type? I do not know, we are fast approaching the end of another year and there is no stopping this downhill decent…

Apart, maybe from playing a slow song? Something to ease one into Monday vibes and attempt to chill out? I think I have quite the track for that. I have been saving this song for so long now I believe it is time. It also fits well with a recent book I finished called Going Postal, as well as halloween as the guy sings about feeding some kind of monster… I am not sure what the message behind this song is, but I like it a whole lot. It has pulled me out of very tough situations and always helps me feel beter. A more Perfect song I could not ask for… An added bonus is that the frontman also fronts for Tool, big fan that I am of that band, it is no surprise that I also like this more toned down and mellow type of songs  that the band has.

Hope you enjoy!

Lyrics:

Clever got me this far
Then tricky got me in
Eye on what I’m after
I don’t need another friend

Smile and drop the cliche
‘Til you think I’m listening
Take just what I came for
Then I’m out the door again

Peripheral on the package
Don’t care to settle in
Time to feed the monster
I don’t need another friend

Comfort is a mystery
Crawling out of my own skin
Just give me what I came for
I’m out the door again

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get just what I need
Lie to get what I crave
Lie and smile to get what’s mine

Eye on what I’m after
I don’t need another friend
Nod and watch your lips move
If you need me to pretend

Because clever got me this far
Then tricky got me in
I’ll take just what I came for
Then I’m out the door again

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get what I need now
Lie to get what I’m craving
Lie and smile to get what’s mine
Give this to me

Mine, mine, mine
Take what’s mine
Mine, mine, mine
Take what’s mine
Mine, mine, mine

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get what I need now
Lie to get what I crave
Lie to smile and get what’s mine

Give this to me

Take what’s mine
Mine, mine, mine
Take what’s mine
Give this to me
Take what’s mine
Take what’s mine
Mine

Take what’s mine
Take what’s mine
Take what’s mine
This is mine
Mine
All mine

  1. Mellow indeed! For a metal monday I mean 😀

And man, you aren’t kidding about mondays coming faster. I went to bed sunday night and it felt like it still should have been Friday night.

      1. I liked the musical intro. When I left my comment the vocals had just started and I forgot that when I leave a comment the page refreshes, so the song was cut off…

      2. I never know if you actually listen to the songs i post🙈. Thats mostly the reason i include what the vocals are like in most of them, so people know what they get into

      3. Probably about 3/4 of the time I don’t listen to the song and I do appreciate that you type up the lyrics.

I’m one of those people though, who would probably be fine if I never heard another piece of music, beyond humming to myself. Music doesn’t do much for me…

  2. Great song. Glad it’s helped you when you needed it.

It’s a shame that for me this is one of those songs that reminds me of a particular time/place/person that I’d rather forget. Funny how that can happen with songs. And sometimes spoil really good ones!

A Perfect Circle rock, as do Tool. Have you ever tried Puscifer? I found it a bit hit and miss, but when it hits, it hits.
