Seeing as January is almost over I thought I would take a quick glimpse back at my month. I know reading wise I was not very active and I can not blame it on work this time as January was a month in which I had a lot of free days, as it is winter time now and the Zoo was not too busy.
I read a total of 4 books, two of which were audio books and two physical. I actually read one book more than my Reading Plans post included and I am happy with that as January always sees me going through some form of reading slump. Of the four books I only managed to post reviews for three, as the fourth I missed out on posting Sunday due to work and it forms part of my Sundays with Sherlock series, have no fear though it will be coming out early in February…
Metro 2034 – Dmitry Glukhovsky
I think I might have been a bit harsh on this one, but it was exceedingly difficult to like a book and having it fail for the second time. I still believe it comes down to the translations that were not proof read, general good editing could also have saved this one. I hope the last book in this series will redeem itself to me. If not, then expect old Salty to have another go at reviewing a book.
The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes- Conan Doyle
Sherlock Holmes Book 4 also continued to surprise me in all it’s greatness. Being over a 100 years old now and still being able to hold up in current times just boggles my mind.
Fulgrim – Graham McNeill
Fulgrim is book 5 in the Horus Heresy series and even though I know what the Emperor’s Children Legion would turn into this quite an emotional, political, bolter porn, word festival that weighed in at a hefty 510 pages. This took up a lot of my reading time and currently sits at the biggest book for 2020. 2020 Has only started tho, so we will have to see if bigger books will come my way… As an added bonus I also teamed up with Jenn over at Eternal Bookcase who will be reading along with me on this vast series.
Metal is what seems to be a general constant on my blog so far. I am glad that I am able to share it with you all, yes I know it ain’t always for everyone, I just like seeing what other’s thoughts on it come up with. I am more than oke if it garners no likes or interaction, at least my blog stays semi active in that regard. I have a little bit of great variety coming in February so keep a look out for it…
I did a Year recap post that talked a little about my stats. I got a bunch of books off of Net Galley again, I also did a look back at some personal favorites of 2019…
That was my January in posts folks. I hope February will be equally as interesting, we will have to see…
