My name is Dave, I am a Wordaholic and so are you…

Today’s post is just a little thank you and a warm welcome to some of the new people that have decided to follow my blog. Even if it was a miss click and you do not plan on taking part on any of the posts I do in future, it does not matter. I have only recently seen that my followers count has reached the 400 person mark. Now, I am not a person who set out to ensnare millions of people with my meager book reviews, bad taste in music and even worst use of the English language, but I am quite proud to have reached this milestone so early this year. My blog will only be turning 4 this year and I never really thought I would ever be interacting with people from across the globe as I have in these past few years. I just wanted to say thank you for every like, comment and follow to everyone that felt like checking out my blog and those that stayed. I am looking forward to putting up posts for as long as I can. That is if WP does not introduce another worse format that they did with the Bullshit editor in 2020…

As I was writing this post and looking at this old foto and the heading I decided to go for I had this idea form in my mind. What if we could ingest books and knowledge by drinking it in liquid form? Imagine reading a book while enjoying your favorite beverage at the same time. Would you turn into a Bookdrunkard that my wife seems to be? Not that she drinks when she reads, but simply because that is the name she went with for her WP blog. Would you become a Wordaholic that I pretend to be, even though I read less than the average person? Quite a profound thought coming from me don’t you think? Should anyone ever come up with a way to implement this idea, remember. you heard it from me first! Would make for some pretty good story material wouldn’t you think?

  1. Well done on 400 followers mate! I would definitely drink a book, although it strikes me that if a long book was condensed into a single glass it would be a bit strong and if it was spread out over multiple glasses it might end up forming an undrinkably vast quantity of liquid (I’m picturing Lord of the Rings needing something the size of an Olympic swimming pool). I’m leaning toward the idea that, if you were to sit down in the sunshine and start drinking a pint and reading a book at the same time then the number of pages covered by the time the glass was empty would be roughly the optimal word to liquid ratio. In that case I would drink a short story and then see if it was for me after that, rather than tackling an epic series (I mean, if I’d tried drinking the Horus Heresy my liver would have exploded before I got halfway through). I may have given this too much though! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Book, one calorie per page.
A big book is like a heart ale, the smaller ones spirits.
Just imagine the cocktails you could end up with!?

Also, congratulations on the big 400! Well deserved. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Jenn๐Ÿ™‚. I did not even think as far as calories when the thought popped into my head, just kinda like that Matrix scene where they plug you in and you know things instantly๐Ÿ™ˆ.

      1. Ahhh, then you run into the questions of is the joy from reading/drinking the process or the end results?
Would a book or drink be as good if it was an instant consumable like in the Matrix?

      2. Nope, it would be over in a second. Id rather enjoy it for a bit much like the current HH read. How are you getting on? These guys seem to be even more secretive than the Alpha legion it seems๐Ÿ™ˆ

      3. Same here. I like the journey as much as the outcome.
I think Iโ€™m on chapter 15 now. Iโ€™m enjoying it quite a lot, which Iโ€™m pleasantly surprised about. Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

  3. Nice! You have swarms of fans ๐Ÿ™‚

I wouldn’t want to drinking instead of reading, but combining the two experiences… well, I do that already, occasionally, but having some special cocktails that would immerse a reader in the book’s universe in some magical way, that would be very cool!

  4. Congrats, Dawie!
Ingesting the books is a great idea – though I wonder if the quality of the book would affect the taste… After some real duds I could’ve lost inclination to read, so that would be risky! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Congratulations on reaching 400 followers. I don’t know, I think you have pretty good taste in music for the most part or at least I like much of what you like. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m always on the look out these days for suitable albums, that I can find on Youtube, to lift weights and such to.
