February 2022 Recap

Just like that February came and gone. It seems that the world has also further lost it´s shit and this just after we finally came out of lock down this past Friday after what felt like forever. Two weeks ago we also suffered what were the after effects of all the storms that ran amok around the U.K. With suffered I mainly mean I am quite unfit due to lack of motivation to get fit, but cycling in 40km winds on your way to work, while being buffeted by heavy rain is not fun. February was also a bit of a weird month for the blog. I just had a bit of a “fuck it” month and just did not feel like blogging. I have to say I now suffer a little bit of anxiety as I have about 5 books to review still and I have no idea what to write about them. At least Salty came out of hiding and managed to keep you all entertained. I’ve heard him tapping away at another tree, so I am sure I am going to have a few more sentences to translate from Bark to Block Editor… Here’s what you might have missed in this very short month:

Metal Monday:

I missed a Metal Monday due to the fact that Milou and I went away the weekend before Valentine’s. We don’t really do romantic things, we rather plan in city trips and walks that take us to a bar of some infamy. For the weekend in question we went to Groningen where we visited a brewery after a a walk where the bottom of my feet just was not up for walking, I have talked about being unfit yet haven’t I?

Eluveitie – Your Gaulish War
In Flames – Dreamscapes
Drudkh – The Nocturnal One

New Books:

I got a lot of new books. No Net Galley books, pure plain old physicals. Really happy with it so far. I also managed to add 7 more books to my 40K Legends Collection of which I will make a new foto of later in March.

A few new things…

Jeeesh, 1 review this month… Not the best review of a much loved franchise either, although I did enjoy it immensely. Playing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and having seen the series as well as having played the mobile game Gwent has really cemented my love for it. The Netflix series was a bit hit and miss, but I am happy that the books are getting exposure. If it is the right kind?, I am not the best judge of that…

The Last Wish – Andrzej Sapkowski

Salty’s Corner:

The highlight of the month is undoubtedly the fact that Salty picked up the reigns while I slacked of, the guy has a talent of making people laugh, be it with his ranting and suffering through bad bad books or answering questions that keep people up at night. I have to say that I have never seen him so proud of himself and I am worried that I might have domesticated him a wee bit too much… In light of his excellent performance this month I will list all his posts under his own banner just as a show of thanks. Oke Salts, no you don’t have to get all big headed about it, you are still a Dwarf remember, no one likes a big headed Dwarf.

Salty’s Corner (edit: Read Amazing, Astounding, Gobsmackingly Glorious!- Salty)

A Salty Return
Adressing some Burning Questions
Genevieve Undead – Jack Yeovil

And that is February all done and over. I have no Idea what March will hold up reading wise. I am still not even halfway through the brick that is Fear to Tread. We will have to see how it all works out. March will also be picking up work wise again, I can alread see a lot more online orders coming in and customer complaints are getting even more tricky. I will do my best to get those reviews up and going.

Hope you all have a good March, stay safe.

  1. The only advice that I can think of for writing reviews is to just buckle down and do them. There are times it is just like doing chores for me, bleh.

But it seems like this last month hit a LOT of people in the blogging balls, as I saw a lot less writing from a lot of people (not just you). In many ways this feels like a tipping point for blogging but we’ll see. I might just be feeling all doomy and gloomy because of the world situation.

Looking forward to whatever you have for march 🙂

  2. Yeah, Feb was a tough month all around for blogging. Glad you had such a cool Valentine Day trip, even if your feet complained. And while you might have written less than usual, Salty more than made up for your laziness, Dawie! 😀
