I am going to have to admit to something I did not know was a thing before I started with this post. Recently I started posting to Instagram to try save space so that WP does not bite me in the ass regarding space used. It seems I have posted on Insta so often now that I totally forgot to write book haul posts for the blog… If some of the pictures I share today does ring a bell, let me know so I can see where I started forgetting to write these posts. I have also been feeling that I wrote some posts that I now just cannot find back in my posts section to try find them again. I don’t know what the hell happened, but you dear reader, you can look at pretty pictures over again and place bets on when you’ll see these books as part of my reviews some day so long…
To start this post of, I went to S.A at the start of July, and came back with a few books as well as having some books waiting for me to pick them up at a DHL drop of point. One of the Afrikaans books in this reel is written by an old friend from school and the other is considered a South African classic which I never got to read back in the day. The rest are all from the Warhammer 40K Collection and knocked off a few more books on my Need to/Want to buy books of of Ebay.
Some time in July I also got Jaine Zar, a female fronted Eldar novel I was happy to get as this was part of the re adjusted 80-100 series of the 40K Collection. I finally have some Eldar focussed novels within my owned book pile…
Next I got in Deathwatch Ignition, I have no idea what it is about, but the Deathwatch some how still appeals to me, dealing with a small group of individuals taken from the various Space Marines Chapters and being grouped up to take on a certain threat.
I then got in Wrath of Iron, which I thought I owned already, but had it mistaken with Storm of Iron… Silly Black Library titles…
Then Deathwatch happened, this one not to be confused with Steve Parker’s Deathwatch, this was written by Ian St Martin and I think it is the prequal to Deathwatch Ignition.
Up until this point I had the good graces of being able to make a suggestion on Ebay as to what price I would be willing to pay for a book and being successful in most cases to have made a decent enough estimate that both seller and shipper/importer were happy with their cut and the books were sent with no trouble and received in good condition. I wish I can say the same for the rest as well… Seeing as this is where I ran into the biding market with some titles. I am not going to go into too much detail of how hurtful this can be to a person’s wallet, but I will say this: people that know they can make a profit off of you will exploit that to the highest degree no matter their upbringing. The sad part is that I know that these books sold only in certain countries and went for around 10 pounds. The fact that one book alone would go on a biding war nearing the 100pounds and then you still had to pay for the transport and import costs… Yeah, heafty amounts, luckily I knew when I needed to pull away from certain wars, was with a heavy heart though as some of these books are so fucking hard to come by and I fear that sellers/hoarders that know this will be exploiting people that want to finish the collection even more… Anyhow, here are a list of books I have not been able to write about yet.
Book 3 in the Path of the Eldar series I now own all three in this collection and am eager to read more about their ways.
This stand alone novel is of a Space Wolf, I have heard some nice things regarding it, I also have had a copy of it on my Netgalley shelf for ages, so will be nice when I eventually take them both of of my too read list…
Heroes of the Space Marines looks like it will be short stories, but I could be wrong. Where Ghostmaker is book 2 in the Gaunts Ghosts series. I have done a review for book one and two before, but plan on doing a re read at some point as I own books 1-6 now in physical form, 3 of them included in the 40K Collection…
Talking about owning three books of Gaunt in the series, Necropolis, book 3 arrived a few weeks ago. Along with Baneblade that seems like it is a whole novel written around a tank/ a possible novel written at a time where Black Library were writing books centred around specific miniature units. Gods of Mars, one of my favourite Mechanicum series so far also came in, I now own the complete trilogy in this collection which I feel is really great as they really are good books set within Warhamer 40K (depending on where you stand with the factions). Cult of the Warmason, is a book I know nothing of, apart from that it will have Genestealers as a focal point. Then lastly Death of Integrity is a Space Marines Battles novel that I have read before, but that I am also happy with owning in this collection. As far as I can remember it had the Iron Hands going against the Genestealers on a Space Hulk.
And then, Last week happened, I got in Damnos, also a novel I have previously read and also a Space Marines Battles novel. This time we see the Ultramarines going up against the Necron, on Damnos. I cannot remember a lot, so will be looking forward to this re read. What I do know is it had some good characters in it from both factions.
Lastly, on Friday I picked up the lasted books that flew in, I was a bit disappointed as these books got damaged in transit and the seller also did not take any more precautions in packing them in a little better, which sucks, but that is life in the Ebay verse, its all a gamble… Stormcaller is about a Space Wolves shaman that I think Jenn and I read a small bit about in The Thousands Sons novel, but apart from that I have no Idea what to expect. As well as The Emperor’s Gift which I also know little too nothing about, I think it might have to do with the knowledge Corax left with to create Space Marines, but I might be mistaken as the model on the cover does not look like Raven Guard at all…
Man oh man was this a long haul or not? You are probably thinking by now, Dave, how many books could you possibly miss after a haul like this and the answer to that is now pretty easy… I believe I am down to just needing seven to have this collection completed. Will I be able to do so before the year ends? I highly doubt it as I have tried to explain earlier on, going into bidding wars is not easy on the wallet. I will be trying my luck where I can though. Another problem I have is not actually knowing what the books I am missing are called. I have a clue about three of them, but as far as I know they are the ones that are pretty hardly sought after, so that sucks… Anyway. This post has gone on long enough… I’ll see you at the next one…
The title alone got me!! Bravo, your collection must be pretty impressive at this point! I think I might need to look into Death of Integrity, I love the Genestealers in space!! 😃

Having the hard back now I can send you the paperback i have if you want. Was a good book. I like the space hulk missions🙂.
As for my collection I have 7 outstanding and just learned yesterday that two more books got lost in transit so i am a bit bummed…

That is a bummer about them lost in transit, with just 7 left to find I hope you don’t get caught in the inflated price wars, and actually manage to complete the collection! Even if you don’t get to read them all until you’re 90, it’s still very impressive!!
I actually have the book as well, it’s one of the many books I have boxed up in the loft, but thanks so much for the offer!! Hopefully I can get round to it soon, anyway!!

Bidding is tough stuff. Back in the day I had a couple of times where I ended up getting caught up in the bidding for something and paid the same price as if I’d just bought it new
and welcome to the world of the “collectible” where value is what other people say it is. It can really suck sometimes…

Yep, that it does,…. Specially when you win a bid and the book vanishes mid transit…

Bummer.
So you have 9 more books then. Have you thought about doing a post listing all the ones you still need?

That is difficult as the site that ran this has deleted all the books, and i cannot find a list of it anywhere. Ill be running a post of books 1-100 once i have it completed. For now i know of at least six books’ names

Thanks Ola, its getting very tricky to get hold of the last few as they are all highly sought after. If all works out I might be winning one bid war in two days, but i am not holding my breath for that…
